It's too bad that the comic had to get cancelled. Even though it correlated with the end of the line itself. Much of the writing - at least initially - was pretty good. But this one got dull quickly. I don't know why we are so obsessed with Area 51 - and yet really can't tell many halfway decent stories in it at all. Garrison walks in - as Bloodshot - recollects that he's a mess and can't really recall - and then takes off. Yes, you've all been guarding something you don't know. But as far as developing the story - or even really relating to the character - it's a big fat loss.
Oh, that terrible Sandman costume.
Reading books from the time - and seeing so much within all of the mess inside of the Marvel - especially comparing it to the snare drum tight continuity in the current Valiant - really crimped my idea of what had been rolling in this era. I know that the current standard of continuity is far different than than the standard of this era, but the changes are so disturbing. And at least we are seeing some changes in Betty. She seemed so infernally dull. And really - if the Hulk stayed the same, it wouldn't be a big deal - if SOME of the other characters around him changed. I know that Hulk has quite a few SMASH years ahead of him - but this one has stayed AWFULLY painful.
