Apparently Valiant isn't in the business of killing characters - at least when it's done quietly. Remember how you THOUGH Sosa was dead a few months ago? He was badly burned, but not dead - until NOW. Nothing like showing a charred corpse with its eyeballs bugging out. In other news, I'm not entirely certain where this book fit in with the OTHER Bloodshot-EW crossover this month. They didn't really cross paths, so to speak, more areas. But I flipped back and forth a few times before deciding to finish with this one, that seemed like a deeper finality. This was a good book - I love how it treated such dark looks at the darkest parts of this industry. Nice to see such a dark villain get his own, but he was such a creeper, it might have been better to keep him around a while.
Welcome back, HULK FANS! Or, fan.
The Giant Man story. Jeez. This is the mark of a second-tier character. Kind of disturbingly painful to read. Certainly of the time. Reflective of the Red Spread. Tough. But some Giant Man history. Had a wife. Kidnapped behind the Iron Curtain. Jan's a little jealous. THIS is the better stuff. Now, Hulk. Ugh. That may not be fair. It's not terrible. Not TOO terrible. But it's clear to see how Hulk was a second-class citizen - at least for the time being. He's still too self-aware - not the HULK SMASH character that came later. But it isn't the best way to get a character rolling.
