My brain was very little surrounding this - we'll call it a story, perhaps. Dull, uninspired, and a big change from last month when I actually had some care for the characters within the story. I'd compare it to Star Wars - decent story with terrible dialogue. Except for the hurtful oart that the story can't even get around the mess of the storytelling in this comic. It's just bad in about a thousand ways. The shift in writer and art flips the comic around. The cover is good, but the battle is so simplistic. Really? The big conflict is these two barbarians beating on one another? Bad news. How about SOME attempts to explore why one might beat the other. Strategy? Planning? Knowledge? Toothpicks? ANY bit could have helped it. And none were even attempted.
Let me start by saying that I HATE the unicorn.
I went into this comic thinking that this would be the most painful piece of garbage ever. And it wasn't at all. Okay, take the fact that this guy is called the unicorn out of the equation. Eliminate the brazen white horse on his cowl. When that is done, the character actually becomes compelling. Sacrificing his body - and shortening his life span for a chance at power becomes a self-sacrifice, and a gamble against time. Of course, his real goals are a bit cloudier. Does he really want to attack a scientist convention that just HAPPENS to feature Tony Stark? But outside of that, it seems pretty interesting. Even compelling! That is the strange part of the whole thing, really.
