Much of the story writing has been replaced with bombs and pouting. It's like Rob Liefeld took over the writing. Well, maybe not. But there really is frightfully little going on in this comic at all of interest. Big robots attacking the city with giant flames licking out. It's an awful lot like... THAT COMIC OVER THERE! It doesn't do too much for me, really. I mean... Not that this comic was great or anything - but it was a good re-imagination that was pretty desperately needed after the end. But this isn't it anymore. I like the fact that Donovan doesn't want to be X-O that much. But explore more of that. The whole villain mess is more than dull. Give me some more exploration with that if you want to go there. Help me out, kids.
I normally think too much about time travel.
I guess it's the dark quandary of most of them that really makes me try to wrap my head around it. If it could happen, then couldn't it... Or wouldn't it? The best stories just tend to make you really forget about the possible consequences or repercussions that might occur... This isn't one of those stories - nad strangely enough, I've been complaining lately about some of the depth of a few comics. This one sort of skips quickly around, and does a pretty good job at it. I'm almost enjoying the lack of real consequences in the book. The battle section loses me. I am following along rather well, until it seems to get into the lack of depth. But as a fill-in issue - with no real connections to anything - I am enjoying this one.
