I skipped over this bad boy SOMEWHERE in the flow of comics - but holding off on it until now isn't that big of a deal. It doesn't swim into the continuity of comics. And as much as the line loved to champion NOT doing polybags - this one was bagged. BUT for those of us who took the plunge and opened up, it is a cool issue. Okay, Aric appearing in the thong thing - NOT excellent. But the cut away pages, and the see-through sections are pretty danged incredible. Most of the stuff on these pages - while repetitive of much of the earlier info - does contain a surprise or two, including the non-sentience of both the wolf-class and Commando armors. Excellent.
Strange change
Well, this is really a dark change over for the issue. I see some liberal changes as far as Ditko goes - some cool changes in art - and paneling - but some pretty repetitive facial expressions - very similar on a few occasions. The story is a strange one. Of course, we know that Green Goblin is going to win this strange three-cornered debate that is starting, it is an interesting idea. And the change-over in the story - to hold over from issue to issue is a welcome change, too. Spider-Man was never really caught in the Silver Age of comics, but it is shaking, and adopting some of the Bronze Age concepts, already.
