These comics are pretty danged great. I love this arc of stories. They don't pull punches on either side, and go for the throat. Serious casualties to both the Alien race and to the people they've collected are put on both sides. The yellow art can be grating - but I'm still impressed at the way it can be enjoyed with the glasses or without. Movies today don't even have that option. The Valiant Vision is played much more subtle in the book, but the story packs a serious punch to the neck.
A sad state of affairs
So sad to see this anniversary issue really wrecked by this terribly silly story of the J Jonah Jameson robot. So pathetically dumb, it doesn't warrant any explanation. It's programmed to attack spiders, so attacks Peter - of course. Instead, let me devote a little time to the Betty-Liz-now Mary Jane Watson insanity that will come to a forefront. Ditko chooses to keep her face a secret, still. But Liz and Betty have both been fighting over Peter - and it really comes to the forefront in one frame. By the way - does anyone else notice in the photo that they both look THE SAME but with different hair?
