This was how the stories should have been written. Take the entirety of the story out - and then put the perspective back onto the outside of the story. It really worked. Especially when the story came back to the perspective of the crime - the abuse of the corpse - sort of the attack on old Mobsters. I am still upset that the comic didn't really address the story of the foundation - but it made a big shift - changing the story perspective - and flipping back and forth. I'm certain that all of the comics were really re-establishing themselves - and this one was better - but still needed some work.
Beautiful cover here.
The change had to be felt by the comic - and so unfortunately cancelled so soon afterward. But the first few panels - placing the interview with Trask offset by the battle with the new Sentinels - clashing around - and descriptions of the attacks on one another - representing the actual attacks that we're seeing in the pages. So great. It became rapidly clear to me why this set of stories was re-published in Giant-Size X-Men 2. Liked the realization by Mesmero, as well, that he was serving the synthetic Magneto, as well. The writing has really cleaned up the house on this whole mess, here. And the conclusion - eliminating the medallion - and confronting and capturing Trask - flipping incredible. These quick tales have flipped X-Men from the near-bottom of the heap to one of the strongest written books in the era. An NO MORE ORIGINS!
