And with a strong vengeance - and not entirely certain what he might just face next - and that can be freeing. Certainly the books have gotten better. Even in my rudimentary terrible ability to understand most of what really flips through the whole world of the voodoo - it seems to make sense. Get rid of most - and facing the demons of self. That made this book sing. Loudly. Just take another look at the first few panels of the book. And although they are weighed down heavily by both the dialogue and narration - the connection from panel to panel - revealing something new about previous ones - rings back to what the greatest writers did back when. Put something in every panel - link forward and back at the same time. Force the reader to look back again. OH! I see it now... That made this... And so on. Beauty.
I do hate the Red Skull
And know what else I hate? Something like the cosmic cube. Why here's a thing that can do ANYTHING in the history of available thought. Gun? It's a gun! Shrink Captain America down to size and put him in a bottle? Make him fall down a chair? Send him to the end of the universe to fight octopus? Or green slug hybrid jaguars? Done. Write a good story? Sorry, no can do. This one is a bad holding pattern leading up to the one revelation at the end of the book that Captain America and Red Skull switch places. But even then - would Steve Rogers even come close to making such a snide grin like that? Oh, bad news.
