This is one of those books that, I'm assuming, was attempting to herald a new place for the Valiant line, but stuck in the face of collapse and new ownership all at the same time, too many properties, contradictions, messes, and changes all didn't work out. This is a classic one. I can appreciate the writers attempting to close one of the loose story particles from Rai 0 - a classic book. But this feels messy. Magnus doesn't work here, and I don't like the art, either. Faith gets way too thin - and frisky? Really? I like Harada coming to her and her fighting back, but really if Magnus had been there, he might have stayed just a bit more to help out, eh?
A sacrifice, right?
So much of the book is changing for the long haul right here in this book. The Sentinels will be so important for the rest of the run - especially in the mid 100's run. It isn't so important here, as of yet. But these bricks will be picked up again years later to make this story. The telling isn't horrendous, but it seems clunky. I like the book, but it isn't great yet. Those costumes are just so stinking terrible. I can't take it. Much of the book revolves around Trask's sacrifice - and it's important - but months and years later, it seems crazy that it even happened.
