Nothing like a crummy crossover to really kill off a character, right? This one has all of the parts of an inter-company crossover. Giant inflated body profiles. The appearance of every major and minor villains. Interdimensional crossovers. But this one has the added advantage of closing off the Valiant universe. It introduces the first Acclaim X-O, Rand Banion, and even calls him the 'false' X-O. Interesting. One of the best parts of the story - and there are few - refers to Iron Man's reference to the 'old obtain an ultimate power and impose an artificial reality by collapsing the entire multiverse' scheme. Brilliant dialogue there. Especially when it would come back in a few short years again.
The oldest and go-to villain...
So, Iron Man kind of has two villains. And both of them are a little more than caricatures of the east - or Communists. The book even mentions that Titanium Man was here only a few short issues ago. YES. WE REMEMBER! The background of half-face was actually written well - seeing that the man actually had something behind the menace was welcome to see - and a reflective change. The Captain America story is at its best mediocre. Of course, it does damage the story that I already know most of what MODOK really looks like - not much suspense there. But build something more into the girl that Steve truly loves. Mae her MORE than just some pretty face. Right not, she's an agent, but without any real characteristics. And those AIM agents. Can't help but think of many bad Stormtrooper jokes.
