But it has the essence of story writing. And decent story writing. It brings much of what I had wanted back around the corner, and is developing more. Armor as the villain is a decent concept. Great to see the Mirage family back in action, too. They are a great added concept to the whole story. They seem relatively unchanged since last appearance, too. Great stuff. Sad that I am this excited about a relatively mediocre story. It isn't great, but in the face of so much garbage lately, it's surprisingly awesome. It feels like XO from long ago. It LOOKS like the old guy. And that was sorely needed.
Untouchable story.
I noticed at the last issue that the comic led into Stark being in Vietnam, and thought about how little the industry reflected on it. In fact, I think often about how little my own educational history really touched any part of the history of Vietnam. The story only BRIEFLY visited the soldiers - and all are of course painted with one-dimensional backgrounds. It also led Tony and the soldiers apart before any real conflict took place. This villain - what a terrible name - half-face? Wonder who THAT is in reference to... The Cap story features one of the Life Model Decoys. Oh, the old LMD. How to kill a character without really dying, eh? Or, should Nick Fury really be killed in a barber chair? Ugh. Why did these silly things come about, anyway? Can't we just 'die' off panel or something? The fight is drawn well. It has the whole rambunctious nature to it - and fun. But the writing? Bad again.
