Let me say that I am ecstatic that Seaborn was a part of this last chapter. What a beautiful homage to him. But the story of this comic has been told SO many times now. It is tired and hacked down. I DID like seeing some of those old characters again - even in the altered form of the Avengers. And the comic did have the sense of being pretty rushed - especially at the end of this run. But the story is at best a throw away - or the promotion for a comic book video game. It isn't the coda that this universe so desperately deserved. Frankly, I am glad it was closed - and unfortunately limped into Acclaim comics - but I am glad it is back again.
I could see exactly where the story was going.
Let's see... Half-face recollected his family living in a village... And his first order of business is to destroy a village and blame it on the Americans... Hmmm... Certainly the story telegraphed where it was heading, and that's not all a bad thing, but it seems pretty clear here. I DID think that the village would be destroyed - and the family killed, but at this time, we had a little TOO pure a rescue for the family. Again, not terrible, but could be improved. The Captain America story is halfway decent. MODOK is a good villain - but not a great one. I like seeing the appearance of the brain power - but his attacks are so shallow and we cheer when he goes down. Just to make him quiet. I have to comment, though that the appearance of the MODOK body on the ground outside of his chair looks pretty odd. Like some giant head doll or something.
