Great idea this month in a lot of different ways. Got the feeling early on that the comic was going to be pretty different. The best part of the comic may have been the re-integration of the jazz and New Orleans into the comic. It felt like a stronger homage back to the days of old. And this was also a stand-alone story. Almost never feels like that running lately. Haven't nearly all of these been parts of larger runs of comics? I know that they are made this way lately, but this one feels different. Almost like it SHOULD stand alone from its peers. I liked putting Dr. Mirage in, too. She feels well-placed in the comic - and noticed the reference to 'Shan-baby' in the dialogue on the phone, too? Why the kiss? Dunno. Certainly got a different vibe from the character before. But I liked the pacing - and its streamlined nature. More fighting and less filling of pretty complex stories. The art was a little down this month. But it didn't feel poor, or anything. We'll see.
A new direction. Again.
PSI-Force has been a comic that has felt different - often. Its main weakness so far may be that it really hasn't felt consistent through the run - and this issue feels like yet another switch-change going forward. It's getting daunting, but in defense of it, it feels good in this change - for the most part. The cover is pretty sad. But the story within grabbed me from the first page. Pretty great start to the comic. And great first section. Funnily, it may be one of the better parts of the book. Just wish it had made a stronger connection through the pages of the story to the actual story itself. That seemed to get over whelmed. And maybe it would have been too harsh, but what about THAT as a cover? The characters played a sort of passive role to the rest of the story. Connect all of them together better throughout.
