I just can't help thinking about all of the potential this book had in it. A real opportunity to turn just about everything around - and it so quickly went back down the odd path before it. If it hadn't waited until the end was upon it - or the third coming - it would have had a chance - along with the company. But some things won't be. Just wondering why it clung so much to the old story and its convoluted mess. Even this one seems to cling too tightly to its old set-up. Yes, Nettie is crazed for him. Yes, Jack is in trouble. Yes, people are trying to get him. Even now, it seems like it's writing for the trade paperback that will never come. Give me a break and get started already. It's already too late.
A retelling of an origin.
I understand that Bucky is such an integral part of nearly everything that Captain America came to symbolize - loss and etc. But i guess the re-telling of his origin is important - even if for some reason it feels like it needs to be re-visited once each year. Not that it SHOULD be - it just feels like it IS re-told over and over again. Although it is the same old story - it seems a little fresher this time - told through Cap's eyes in a world that has somehow passed him by. I do like the cover - but the art has somehow reverted itself back to the older style - and it is one that I am NOT a tremendous fan of in nearly any way whatsoever. Just when it returns to these stories, don't forget what just happened, either.
