Not my favorite issue. It's sad that it feels like BWS seemed to limp toward the end. He's almost done, right? The book is still one of my faves, though. And if it has a weaker comparative issue, it still doesn't really make it bad, per se. It surrounds a sort of trial for Armstrong and Ivar - with Armstrong drinking his way through much of it. And even though Valiant is really against the thought bubble - the address to the journal really cheaply finds its way around that exemption. The cover is a decent one, and we're on the offense against the mummy guy, but I can't remember if that ever really gets resolved - guess it's not THAT important if it doesn't, right? Kinda funny exchanges between most of the characters from time - but the best part is the continually establishing relationship between Ivar and Armstrong. That's worth the read. Much of the rest isn't.
The truly fantastic worthy annual
This is what an annual magazine should be all about. Amazing. Spidey fights the Sinister Six - a grouping of all of his amazing villains up to this point. While the story is a little cornballed, it's not detracting from the feel - and overall look of the story. Every villain gets their own full-page panel against Spider-Man. Dr. Octopus's spread isn't great, but every other one is outstanding. And about a million guest stars appear. I think every prominent group or person of the time - with the exception of Hulk - shows up somewhere. One of the true prizes is the villain pin-ups at the end of the book. Full-page looks at all of Spidey's great villains - and some clunkers, too. More than likely, many of these issues were torn up and pages were put all around rooms.
