It seems like much more than the comic - an feels iconic. The story sort of sets a new path - and read together with Acclaim's new SOLAR makes more sense. I don't like the complete abandonment of everything that was set up before - even though most of that had all been thrown out with the bath water long ago. It is an easy read - which could have been done sooner. In fact, it could have been cancelled - and have Phil - or SOLAR - show up throughout the universe. It probably would have been better than most of the last few issues in the series. It is a pretty good wrap up to the story, and a good connection to the next part, but it does make me really miss the early SOLAR days.
It turned out to be little more than a fill-in retro
I love Kraven as a villain. Dark, killer, hunter. What MORE could you ask? Well, something more than him jumping into a party and throwing around super villain catchphrases, perhaps? The strength of the comic USED to be its strong characterizations - and interactions of regular people. Now, it seems to be the witty banter of Spidey postulated with his thought bubbles. It isn't really better or worse, exactly - just changed. However, with so much of the line getting SO much better lately - this comic is floundering in comparison. I know what you are thinking. IT'S COMING! I know, I know. But still a couple of issues away.
Tough call.
SOLAR is iconic - but Spidey is better than expected.
