This one is one heck of a ride. TONS of great stuff filling these pages. A true return of the storyline. I love how much of the arc comes back upon itself, and literally cleans up the book in these pages. Shatiqua is history here. I think writers probably felt she didn't fit within the frame of the story - so without killing the whole of the team, kill off someone that the audience didn't sympathize with. Although most of the remaining Harbingers (Zep excluded) pretty much disappear until Visitor 25 after this. SO much back to form in this book. Excellent. Awesome sauce.
Blast.
Strange how the first page splash pages get so much better in this comic - look back on some of the earliest X-Men compared to the last two issues. I actually checked to see if Kirby was doing all of the pages. The art remains mediocre, and through much of the Sixties, the X-Men will remain a second-tier book, at best. I was reading last night, and saw a comment someone had made about this being the best of the Silver Age. Dead wrong. This comic is okay, but unmemorable. How to defeat him? Turn up his power with a ray gun? A ray gun? Sheesh.
