Not a bad idea - to introduce a new team, of sorts. Concocted by Jane's Mom - someone who has left the set of the team, and now has created a new team of...
Animal things?
Naming them the Rabble Rousers... Not bad. And the setup is actually pretty good. Jane WANTS to get out - never gets out... And taps into a lost relationship with her Mom, too. Now the team on the attack trying to free her - that was a big mess. As a team of heroes - they really stink. It desperately needs to have a little more... Training? Enemies? Fighting? Less attacking things at the mall? Not certain what, but this may have been a little too early to introduce this team. I almost felt like they may have been put into play for the SOLE reason of using the X-Men 100 cover homage. But the story at least is showing an improvement over last month.
Welcome, Lorna
I remember picking this comic up - AGES ago. I really don't remember where... And I don't think I really bothered to ever READ the thing. But that's okay - it was a tiny piece of a larger puzzle that I wasn't really able to complete - UNTIL NOW. The comic is actually pretty good. It's feeling like a big change in the writing. Perhaps spurred on by low sales - or the real lack of worry of cancellation - the comic seems to be taking some risks. And of course, I love them. Polaris is one of my favorite characters. Who wouldn't like Havok & Polaris, right? Not certain if the cover is supposed to be Mesmero on the bottom or what... But the story starts out well. Veiled references to Magneto's upcoming appearances again... The Beast origin tale was a pretty good one. Interesting to see the development of mutations from exposure to the radiation. Sort of a backward compatible look at the Hulk origin and gamma rays, right? But now, the exposure has a 'real' origin, right?
