Many of the Troublemakers issues, while not great in concept, really nailed it when it came to reaching in and writing a great comic. They really had some heart. This is not one of those comics. The concept? Jumping into space to retrieve a satellite that has been infected with an alien virus thing from the company. Mom & Dad hate it - but they want it anyway. So they go. This is about the best part - the fast summary. The art is not great. It has crossed over from fun cartoonish to bad cartoonish. When the team saw the glowing alien blob-thing, it's time to leave town, right? Nah. Let's stick around a while. Until nearly EVERYONE else can die, right? This one is bad.
Some seriously junky stuff here.
This title SHOULD have been canned. Some of this is such junk. And this may be at the top of the heap. The title from the top end of it - Beware Computo? Robot Commander of the Hive? Of course, just below that - and for the next five pages - Marvel Girl prances around in her bathing suits - as a model, nonetheless. Shameless attack on high school boys - trying to woo them with scantily clad X-Men? And her super power is stopping a lamp from falling? Then, why did Jean see it necessary to fall for Scott? He's such a jerk. Most of the story doesn't even bear repeating, anyway. They are attacking robots for crying out loud. And Quasimodo. The origin story behind the Beast was interesting - but perhaps a greater sense of that could have been better. Do I really need him telling me six times that he can use his feet? But... Not as good as Scott or Bobby, but necessary, I guess.
