But thus story really was solid. It felt just like the old Shadowman, again. I'm not certain exactly what changed - but the story really hammered the line home. I loved that the issue sort of felt like it was coming to a closure, and it included so much heart. I loved it. Frankly, Shadowman had taken a sore turn lately. It hadn't felt like much for quite a while. Not certain why the majority of the isues had felt so wrong - but this was powerful. And on a rather bad premise. Shadowman being caught as Jack? And another late impostor showing up? And Sandria bringing back the vision of the old Shadowman was great, too.
This one? Not so much.
This was a hot pile of garbage. Painful, stinky and messy. I despised it. Reading was a true chore. So many of the comics in this era relied so heavily on dialogue, and trying to explain every bit of every thing that happened throughout every moment of the story. It makes the story painful. Two high moments - the cut away to Marvel Girl in college when Rankin appears again, leading to the next story. AND the conflict between Scott and Warren that leads to the pain over the love of Jean. But the dialogue between characters is wretched. And the painful stereotypes... It's like watching a commercial for Ortega tacos with all of the Mexican hats and such. Bleah.
