But it isn't the old guy. For some reason, it's missing its heart - or maybe its opposition. I don't like it a bunch - at all. It's rather... dull. I think it angers me... But I am not sure. Not certain if I feel that Hall had reached the end or not - but it certainly feels like most of the stories he'd had within him were told. It reminded me a lot of the old run of Spider-Man. When it reached issue 30, it felt like Ditko had reached the end of the line. This one felt like it. That all the stories were told - and over. The line isn't bad, just a bit tired. And in need of a changeover that came when it hit the wall at issue 43. Of all numbers? 43?
Timmy in the burning orphanage?
The comic starts with a burning orphanage, and quickly moves to salvaging the trapped kid - Timmy - from the orphanage. This is a fifth tier book at this point. Yikes. The pursuit section of the story isn't terrible. But it is not good. I am wrestling with the idea of tearing it off like a Band-Aid, and just reading ahead through the story. It's bad. The X-Men are alternately including Marvel Girl and not including her - make a decision, kids. Keep her or get rid of her. Quickly. El Tigre is actually an interesting villain concept - too many others are shown in the splash that really don't show faces. Move one, please.
