It still has the strong ring of excellence. I am not certain why or how I am supposed to believe that everything wrapped up so completely and concisely. And it has nothing to do with Jillian's survival, either. The fact that the entire army could be mobilized, and then suddenly give up when Jillian wakes up is more than a little bit silly, but the comic works well. It isn't as good as the last few, and with the Speedshot Dragon preview at the end of the comic, it looks like it is returning to its essence of garbage. But for all general purposes, this goes down relatively easily. Nice to see the permanent change in some character - even if the comic will close in a few issues.
The story starts out well.
Namor has been back and forth between mediocre and relatively bad lately. But this one really improves it. Namor has success as the anti-hero - and even in this era has been one of the more complex characters - nicely paired with Hulk. This one - Namor shows his better side - and after defeating his foe - sets up a challenge to battle for superiority. Not surprisingly, Namor wins. Surprisingly, it is relatively early. Great to see some of this in the comic - the judicious hero. The Hulk is a standard issue type story - with one tremendous twist. Battle against yet another guy with MEGA-strength. Only this time - Hulk's identify as Banner is known to all. A serious decision to really twist around this info - and not being a Hulk expert - I don't know how long it will last. But a great twist to put him as a man and hero inside the beast.
Tough call.
Both qualify as 'good,' but Sub-Mariner probably makes Tales stronger.
