This story hits all of the high and low notes throughout. It's like a dark symphony. The art is mediocre. Maybe a bit better than mediocre, but... The story is quite good. It is standing out against much of the rest of the Valiant ponies at this point. It's interesting, and Rampage is one of the better Valiant villains - even if he is tied too much to Bloodshot. I like the nega-Bloodshot them - or Bizzaro world Bloodshot. And the story - especially the dialogue - and his method of eventual defeat over his opposition really hit a great set of notes. It's pretty strong to see this story against the rest of the harshness in Valiant.
A great mix of good and bad.
Half of the issue is rather good - and quite a challenge. Mixing the two characters together in a pseudo-assault on New York is an excellent idea. Frankly, I am surprised something like this hadn't been done sooner and more often. And some of the plot devices don't feel tired here - even though they are now. Hulk changing to Banner at the end of the story on the assault was particularly good. And if I haven't mentioned lately how great the anti-hero concept is lately, here is the time to mention it again. However, much of the conflict of the Hulk's fighting is particularly boring. ON a few pages - it actually looks as if many of the art is stolen from the previous panels - and I found my mind wandering around, too.
