Lemme start by saying that the art is rather mediocre - and that's on its absolute best day. Nothing that particularly stands out. Maybe its my new affection for New Orleans - or maybe it's where Shadowman was written - but this story was quite a fun little ride. I liked the characters - and especially the connection back to the setup of the characters. These are the eral things that made these comics entertaining. The fact that Bloodshot was surviving with all of his changes both as burden AND as a great change. That type of stuff really turned most of the comics around - and turned them back again. For the first time in a while, I really want to jump ahead and read the next part of this story. Quite a compliment.
Coming into its own.
The comic has a pretty decent idea here. It's revolving the two characters around each other - with a crash coming - probably toward the end of the run of the book. The first half - the Sub-Mariner half - is stunningly drawn. It feels a lot like the recent Iron Man stories told lately. This is slowly climbing out of the drudgery that has been the comic. The hiding and disguises inside the theater are particularly good - even if the premise of the story is a bit weak. Very sophisticated storytelling. The Hulk story revolves back around the Sub-Mariner one - and cool to see the twisting around of the stories - intertwining themselves - and the Hulk is getting better, too.
Tough call.
I would choose Bloodshot - but Tales has come so far, I would choose it.
