Bart may like some parts of the art... a little too much. But the story - we KNEW where it was leading - and decent to keep it moving. Were TWO issues necessary? Probably not. At least we're there now. The comic continues its HARD break from all that was before. It might be my strongest concern with the Birthquake - was that nearly EVERY part of what came before has been forgotten. No transition, and no real effort to bring it back around at all yet. I don't HATE this new are - but have a feeling that I will when I come to its end.
Yeesh.
The Iron Man story has taken a hard turn into boringsville. I am certainly not a fan of Namor and the below the seas stories - but for Iron Man to walk somewhere and end up near the ocean - where undersea enemies of Namor can attack him? Wow. This thing rings of desperation. The art is still passable, but the story is getting more and more dull. The Cap story. Sadly, I found it more interesting than the Iron Man one. And it was pretty darned dull. And the climax of the story - with the 'Hypno Helmet,' was dull. Can you imagine sitting in a meeting? Sure. We'll have the villain - in full crazy garb - walk out wearing his green hypno helmet. Wait. Won't someone see him in this getup? Are you KIDDING me? This is the comics! They'll buy ANYTHING. And comics started dropping.
