It's strange to see how much a few new characters can really spoil the feel and direction of a book. First, get over the fact that the art is slipshod again. What is going on? But the story becomes increasingly ho-hum. Stronghold - STRONGHOLD for crying out loud is turning into a real lame-o and killing this book. Even to Turok he's sort of passive about fighthing the Spider-Aliens. They're not too tough. EVEN if they ARE not too tough, HELP sell them a bit. This is a three issue arc of fighting these enemies, and most of the characters are sort of oh, well. No big deal about them. Bleah.
The NEW Black Widow
This issue sees Black Widow donning a new costume - modeled after Hawkeye's mask. I really like this Hawkeye version. A strange parallel to Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver starting out as villains. And all will be the Avengers in a few short months. Hawkeye eliminates the threat by going after Black Widow - who is better in the issue, but still a big bit of a wimp. The Captain America story - after not getting much traction as a modern-day hero, reverts to exploring his older episodes to battle Sando and Omar. If this was all that was available in comic-dom, I would not have jumped in.
Both stink.
But the Iron Man story was decent. So that's where I lean.
