This comic has been stumbling into the blocks, to say the least for it. Not that I ever was any of a Ninjak fan, but reading this one certainly showed some lack of real design - even if the confetti thing had some sort of surprise in it. But why does it disappear and then reappear with him when his costume in nine didn't do that. But Denny finally works up some bit of courage to meet the girl of his dreams - JUST as the cops show, of course. But the comic is moving quickly toward its own demise, and it really COULD NOT come at a better time. Painfully.
Change of an old foe.
This comic brilliantly transformed the facade of the Silver Surfer - by showing him on the attack - and burdened with the purity - and then cast against his lost loved one. He strikes out - and then quickly recants. I was actually thinking about criticizing the lack of gull awareness throughout the early Marvel universe - and then Mephisto showed up. A brilliant introduction of this foe - and this comic brought forth the complexity of this villain - one who would tempt - and really made a brilliant comparison to the old Faustian tale - that Mephisto really springs from. While the conclusion is a little unsatisfying - I really wanted him to consider turning himself over more - and Shalla really fighting back - it does write a great story. The Watcher tale at the end? Have I discussed this enough? Wasting of the opportunity to develop a longer tale in the pages. THIS one is even a recycled TALE! Originally presented in Amazing Fantasy 7 - then reprinted in X-Men 90.
Hulk vs. Rai
Hulk in decline (at best) is crushed by the start to my fave comic. Handily.
