An interesting concept - well in line with the old Valiant and Shadowman, most certainly. It probably had to make a serious break from the path that had been put before itself. And I am not certain why Shadowman had been so poorly received. It did a pretty good job of hybridizing the best sections of both the old classic Shadowman - with the New Orleans influence and darkness. Along with a healthy dose of the Deadside - and Jaunty, as well. But the sum of the parts didn't make everything work together. Strangely, the new comic attempted to bring back some of the worst parts of the VH1/Acclaim Shadowman - the insanity and darkness - and rewrite them into something much stronger. Maybe that is the best idea - to rewrite the nasty stuff. This comic told the quick history of Shadowman - from a somewhat outsider perspective - and then sprinkled in the crazy at the end. By the way - kicking cover, right? And still only the SECOND VEI comic with only one cover. But it's polybagged - so that cancels out. But it's half the cost... And half the story. And so on, right? Listen - it's more and a break. Let's enjoy it.
