I wasn't too thrilled when I jumped into the mess initially - starting with part three - but as soon as the story got really rolling, it seemed to fit entirely into the mish-mosh that had become his mind. Great telling - paralleled each part - and was still easily follow-able as the story progressed. The plotter - and writer really deserve serious accolades for keeping the story - as convoluted as it fell, really enjoyable as a read. Secondly, the story really held me. The disguise - more than obvious - and entry into the Russian zone - all excellent. And the confrontation with the mind-set - even his parallel - and the woman begging for her own demise - sets up a decent closure to the end of the comic, too.
Given a fighting chance
I'm still more than a little stunned at the prevalence of nuclear weapons - and their ease with which they are taken and used by nearly every part and villain ever. I have to say that I was a little disappointed that the Leader just used his super-brains to develop a robot that took on the Hulk with strength. Why not outsmart him? Transporting him to an island seems more than just a little convenient to go on the attack here. But I did like the fact that the Leader could have been outsmarted by Bruce Banner - and his abilities. Of course, I am always impressed by an individual's ability at the time to use punch cards and re-program computers. Brough me back to an old school of mine in the seventies using punch cards - and then using them as 'scratch' paper then. Silly - but I also remembered the big advent of a floppy disk drive - not the GIANT ones - but the 5.25" ones. Little off task? Anyhoo - also brought back the Hulk again - to attack - and of course lead right into the next story. I may have been complimentary in the past, but perhaps it's time to just allow one story to close, eh?
