Bloodshot 6 signed by Kevin VanHook and Don Perlin. Preceded VVSS, but was distributed by Valiant. 2000-2,500 in existence.
Conquering the new foe
I don't care. I like this stuff. Bloodshot is taking to the skies - literally in this ish. We're introduced to Ninjak in this book, but we won't recognize that as the case until at least next month. That's okay. Because we see him fight some pretty heavy hitters in this book. Two Harbinger types are introduced in these books, and they are dark. The man can start fires, but has this terrible obsession with hitting on women before he lights up the plane. Of course, it's all a part of the act to steal from these men on the planes. What are they called again? Weaponeers? Bloodshot and Colin know this, and both are attempting to stop them. From this book's perspective, it initially appears that Colin is working for someone else, but it's so beautifully told. I don't even mind that the cover sort of retro-cons it back again. The book was the first VVSS-type book, very changed as it went - as Valiant first distributed the book with signatures, then started adding a stamp to authenticate. Cool stuff.
Fighting the old foe
What a great cover. Fantastic. The origin story inside is a rather good one, too. Dated? Yes. But it really delves into what could be the strike of madness within him. It paints him too much in the villain standpoint - but again, reflective of the time frame. Nice to see the whole stroy without the FF, too. The pin-ups are amusing - versus Spider-Man pin-ups which are all winners - and this one is filled with LOSERS! The true story - the battle - is not the best part of the story. Most certainly why authors put it in the back of the book. Reed is able to defeat Dr. Doom using his own 'special berry juice' against him. Use anything else. Please.
