It feels like the comic has had the ship abandoned here. This has gotten worse - even worse than it was. Thankfully, the writers seem to have re-returned back to the old stand-by and we are once again seeming like we might just fight some robots. But the story seems like many bad writings of old Fantastic Four issues - only instead of Doom bringing the wealth, it's the Shepherd. The section I kind of liked was Magnus telling the classroom about some of the plan in place to fight against - and how everyone reacted negatively to everything he'd said. Instead, the comic could and should have played up the conflict between survival and dependence on the gifts. How the reticence is problematic. Much of the failure here goes into the art. It seems so extreme - and overly exaggerated - that I can't sympathize or empathize at all with the plight of these characters. One god and back to garbage again.
So, we return to the Inhumans.
A different kind of story - that sort of starts within the already overthrown leadership of Black Bolt - and the consolidation of leader under Maximus. And is it me, or does he look more than a little bit crazier in that crazy dome on his head? I do like the Inhumans - but hate the constant switching back and forth with them. Does Crystal really need to be captured first and then taken? Can't she just CHOOSE to return - and then be captured instead? Of course the team returns shortly thereafter. But instead of really describing the capture - why not tell the story of the quick overthrow? It's been set-up enough, right?
