So, apparently this is a fast forward from the craziness that was happening last issue? Maybe? I can understand getting rid of much of the stuff that was happening - but I can't even follow what in the world is happening here. The art is poor at its best - and I know that the artist won't be sticking around a long time - five issues from now we're on to something else, again. The inconsistencies from place to place overwhelm every bit of this mess. I hate the stories that don't really connect back - and force readers to try and puzzle it out - but this one crosses the line WAY over into the darkness.
Crashing in and out
The comic's main story - the fight between Silver Surfer and the Thing - is fine. Nice to see that old misinterpretation and tow heroes battling it out for supremacy told - again - in this fashion. Of course, we learn at the end that Silver Surfer is 'holding back' as we probably suspected through the story. Frankly, Ben's pain in the neck personality is becoming too much to bear lately. Get a life, man. This is getting OLD! And poor Sue and Reed may NEVER get on their honeymoon. How CAN Franklin ever really happen? One of the more compelling parts of the story is the longer-term connection to what will happen with the next few issues - with Lockjaw getting out - and connecting to the Inhumans.
Yeach.
I am choosing FF - not because it's better. Because it isn't as bad. Well, it isn't BAD, but it isn't GOOD, either.
