But the issue is an excellent one. I must be getting more liberal - because I find myself siding more and more with the robots. This turn in the story - or perhaps turn back - to free will robots from the first few issues has been a very welcome turn to the line. I sincerely hope - without much real hope - that this is the direction that the line will take. I understand that he is a robot fighter - it's in the title, after all. But this ambiguity of soul and self are where the line should really lie. Returning to the words of the robot years later was priceless. Even then, I felt myself wondering if I was still supposed to find solace or hatred or what in the line. Excellent issue.
Love it.
The issue explores the Thing - and the burden along with the positive side of being the Thing. Strange turn of the story here - it almost adds unlimited Pathos to the character - or the isolation - of the Thing. I never really like the FF reading in the modern era - almost too silly. But this Thing concept really has heart. The Thing more than likely is the reason that he follows the isolation and setup of his self problems. I liked the background - and even some layering of such a minor character - the replacement Thing. I didn't really buy them NOT seeing Ben in him - but for the story it worked.
If the cover wasn't so iconic,
I would have had a much easier time choosing Magnus. With the cover, I may HAVE to pick FF. Don't think I could survive without it.
