I'm angry that I can't use vulgar language to describe how great this book was. The lines get drawn, we see a few sets of characters, and new sides. Wow. So, the Malevs have essentially taken over North Am, and they begin to set their sites on Synchron, where Magnus has landed. The leaders of Synchron respond - and do NOT want Magnus to be allowed to speak at the meeting with the Malevs. Of course, he sneaks in. For the first time, E7 (if I haven't yet discussed this - what an awesome name) shows some duality of his conscience. He defends Magnus by showing his opposition to the Malevs seizing Magnus. He's MORE than just a believer in free will. He asserts his command of it. The Malevs respond, and draw their own lines in the sand - to force the free wills into submission. Brief battle ensues, and Malevs are quickly defeated, but all must run. One of my favorite moments - the response that a common enemy does not force their allegiance. The end of the book shows the emperor setting her sights on Japan. The next nightmare in Rai and the Future Force.
Wow.
This is a comic to set the bar for Silver Age comics. This may be the upturn point in comics in the Sixties. So much great in this issue. Hulk, Avengers, and Fantastic Four. I'd review it as more of an Avengers comic than a FF one. They seem to follow more of the ish. The writing of much of the book is excellent - and I'm starting to think the FF rests desperately on the writing. The characters are a bit too silly. But when previously thought dopes are so well-handled in this book, it really gives me pause on the rest of the books. Plus, the conclusion of the epic Thing-Hulk battle. Dang good book.
Wooh. A battle
As much as the FF has improved lately, I give the edge to the Malev world.
