The Unity 2000 stuff is an interesting tease. Both the inclusion of SOLAR within the page, and the setup of the way he's there - and the pic of SOLAR sitting on the shoulder of Lady Liberty always makes me smile. Not entirely a fan of the demise or win over the man - does he really need pics of him with a his sister? But it's pretty interesting. The comic isn't a terrible way to close out everything. Certainly an interesting way to look at a half-twin kind of thing. While some of the story felt like developing when it went - it wasn't an entire rebuild the ending and change history type of event, either. The problem is, that the comic is starting to sacrifice both sides of the story. The violence is getting bigger and quicker, and the story is getting slimmer, too. While I didn't completely see the ending coming, it wasn't entirely pieced ahead, either. Not terrible, but not great.
That's what we are trying?
It feels like these Captain America stories are shooting back to the stories of old. When I really had no care for just about anything Captain America was doing with his life. There is an argument to be made for shifting gears to a much easier to digest story - but like this - it just seems so unmemorable. Cap subdues his enemies with a curtain, and I'm supposed to love that? It has a little bit of direction - jumping into the story with some characterization that set him up as a maker of change - even saving the dean from the 'rioting' kids/ Not exactly winning readers, but he did have the attention - and made a clear statement that he was against the use of force - you know - except when he uses it.
