And these stories were actually pretty good. The Q/W stories have been woefully mishandled under the new line - I don't care what ANY reviewer or awards have to say - but on my re-read, this fell through the cracks somehow. It's a beautiful example of what a great storyteller can do. It's quickly intoxicating - and on the retrospect - let me say that I am ecstatic that they kept Vagabond around. He may be the best foil to Armstrong around anywhere - other than perhaps Woody might be - still working on catching up in the Delinquents comic. But the story beats out the - if not pedantic - sorely mismatched art inside the pages from Gage. I mean, I understand the slightly cartoonish feel like some Image book - but it should be serious. That's what made it work in the past. But the story - really great.
He just CRAZY!
It's n ice to see a comic really embracing the crazy in a character like this. Punisher, while clearly insane - easy to see that. This guy went WAY over the edge. Problems? Many. Like this cover. Would any really sane kid try to even THINK about picking this thing up? Especially knowing that it's a part of the New Universe, right? A creative take - but bringing Tensen back into the mind of a delusional crazy person - even when we are aware - probably didn't help the comic. Sure, it's better than it was at the initial run, but just took a massive number of steps backward when it re-integrated the crazy back into the story. Re-acquaint with the new direction, and keep moving that way. Period.
