Wow. What a mess this comic is. I know that this was supposed to be geared onto a young crowd - but the comic has guns, nun chucks, fights... I'm not sure why this was some great thing for the comic to make. It's at its best... really bad. I know that I'm an old man, but did anyone think that the Boss COULD be anyone else? The Turok story follows Turok - having a cold? And his nephew visits the Lost Land to have a conversation with a dinosaur, and then throw manure all over the bad guys? Starseed's origin story? And Bad Eggs? Wow. This is garbage.
I'm taking a moment to insert the aside that the pin-up at the beginning of all of the Avengers inserted into those pages is pretty amazing. And also stange to think that only eleven different characters have been in the Avengers up to this point. Okay, it doesn't include the iterations of Ant-Man, Giant-Man, Goliath, etc. And nearly every Wasp costume? How long you got? But the idea of the story - to throw the Avengers back into time against themselves? Especially REALLY at the time between Avengers 1 and 2, right? Hulk is still there - and Ant-Man, too. So it MUST be then. The story is a cool one. Once again reaching way back to Avengers 8 and the advent of Rama-Tut to re-explore Kang the Conqueror. A seriously great concept for a villain if there ever was one. An awesome concept - and a great Avengers concept. Sweet annual. And a fantastic cover.
