One of the best parts of SOLAR was how it pitted a man without bounds against normal man's problems. Part of Gayle's brilliance was her ability to be normal. Okay, the beginning of this comic still mostly sucks. I know it was built for the Valiant Vision stuff, but that 3D part is just silly. So wrap that out, and Gayle is now aware of her own demise in the alternate reality for SOLAR - and she confronts him with it. I like how he talks to her and himself, and makes himself walk through the steps of being a good boyfriend, even though he's been a complete tool. Then he faces off against the ship pictured here in space. Okay, that's odd, to say the least. I loved that it was a capacitor, and he was caught off-guard - but facing off against the same VR guy again to get out was a bit nutty - even if it was from him. But the connection/ suggestion that it made to future Magnus, I didn't get. Unless, this sentience becomes the Malevs...
Death!
This is how comic book deaths of the Sixties worked. Re-tread a character history, adding some bit character that is troubled. Then, that character is accidentally killed by the end of the comic book - either SAVING the hero, or the hero making a mistake. This example is the latter. I love comics - but this is overhashed. Dr. Octopus is a great character, but he's almost relegated to the sidelines here -getting helped from a silly villain, and making some crazed trust. WHY do we focus on these sideline characters? No idea.
