X-O Mads-owar
X-O Manowar was great. I liked that he spoke another language and couldn't understand anyone. I also liked that Ken was a Spider-Alien, and yet, he seemed to be good. I also liked that the armor adapts to its owner, so it would go to X-O. Hmm. X-O sounds like a robot name.

High-tech barbarian
I am not certain what I really thought about X-O when I read it years ago. A part of me was offended by the violence, I'm sure - and looked down on the savage nature of Aric - into women, and vengeful.
Today, however, what an introduction. With Spider-Aliens and technology already laid out in the Valiant Universe, stepping in seemed pretty natural.
What a fun little romp. I loved the exploration into the brief history, and the line has already been set for the (much-later) forthcoming X-O Manowar zero. I love how this feels in its entirety. Fun, crazy romp. I also love Aric as a selfish man - with a sincere heart. Reflecting on what he's missed, and extracting the appropriate vengeance.
I also loved the abandoning of the armor - and the fact that he loved the ring because how ladies reacted.
Even as an adult, I'm uncertain of the gratuitous nude Aric wandering around, that he can work better in the nude, but it works somehow. Separates him from us, more.
Finally, the introduction of Ken - slippery - and a turncoat is lovely. I'm not sure about the veiled homosexuality, but his moves to what suits him from time to time are excellent.
