Interesting book. Following the trail of the Harbingers in the Harbinger foundation, and its factions. Of course, the story begins with Ax needing to rebuild his arm - after the recent Bloodshot encounter. Another good attempt to keep the books strongly interconnected. The story is a strange one. With almost no 'real' Harbingers, the feel is off, to say the least. I know that the book is preparing us to lose a few of the main characters, but the reception of this book was a premonition of things to come. It's unfortunate - the book was one of the strongest selling, AND best written. While much of the story doesn't translate forward in time, the book was a solid one, and while X-O, Bloodshot, and Magnus are getting better, this book only has one last trip up to around issue 25.
The brotherhoods
Not bad, here. Not bad at all. I always loved the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants - perhaps more than the early X-Men. I think it's a part of Wanda and Pietro that I need to give credit to. Love these characters, After Magneto and Toad - and Mastermind are all revealed to be the standard crazy villains, it's nice to see some of the other parts of the logistical spectrum of heroes and villains through these books. Wanda? Kinda the prisoner. Quicksilver? Just loyal to his sister. Of course, these characters get used much more in the upcoming Avengers books, but this is a nice start. The story? Way too quick. Taking over the country in three panels with a holographic army that becomes a real army? Modeled WAY too closely after some German soldiers, of course.
Two flawed books
Dunno here. Have to lean into X-Men here, but if Harbingers had been featured more, I'd lean the other way.
