A pretty good story - and a demise fitting these characters. I hated them through most of Secret Weapons. I'm trying to find a moment that was good or passable. Any kind of section when I didn't wish to punch these characters in the neck. This ending was pretty final, though. I liked the parallelism of the story - we need to fight for them - even if we can't find them. It sort of shows how the foundation was cannibalizing itself. What I don't understand is why Gilad allowed this to happen. Perhaps he isn't the nice-guy type we thought him to be. But it's the first time I'm remembering him killing kids like this.
The Stranger?
Much better. The book is really starting to take on weight as a much stronger storyline - and much more interesting book. Unfortunately, it will take a serious turn on the book - and history - to gain attention it deserves. It brings the Stranger into the book - who could've been a one-shot pony, but the book keeps moving quickly and re-using him. Nice to see the rest of the universe interested in some of the fearsome mutants, and sad to see that the book sort of planned to eliminate the Brotherhood and Magneto. The last throes of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch as villains here, where they will join the Avengers shortly!
Really tough call here.
X-Men was getting to be a better book, and this shows that. But this is a shining moment in Harbinger's fall. I'll lean to Valiant.
