This is how I always remembered Bloodshot. Forgettable. Which is too bad - because he is one heck of a character - especially on the modern interpretation. Fun, crazy, and indestructible. I know that I never made it all the way until these kinds of books - that I had stopped collecting long before - but these are the stories I had always remembered. A bunch of something happens, but the character really doesn't change at all. Not for the better - and not much for the worse, either. No writer wants to step on any future continuity, so everyone draws a broad circle. And speaking of the drawing. Yuck. This art is slipshod at its absolute highest point. I like the use of the Geomancer, but don't like how his interpretation is changing. Remember how Geoff used to control things? Not anymore.
A story unfolds
One of the best things about the comic is the ability to slowly unfold the story. This may be the examples of the decompression. But in an issue like this one, the book can really let the conclusion of the story unfold, and see every section of it. Stunning full page spreads in this comic - it's great to see them. Of course, the story ends with the release of the villain, but I can se this art being displayed somewhere incredible. The Hulk story is much better - for a Hulk story - but nowhere near good yet. Why, of COURSE the Hulk travels into the future, right?
