This mess is painful to read. Even now, I am stressing over attempting to finish the infernal thing. SUCH a mess. My brain keeps wandering around - and I am ending up doing anything except reading. The story is completely devoid of any substance in any part of any of the pages at all. It's just striking woman posturing then strange poses. Apparently they are supposed to connect from one to another - but each panel is so painfully disconnected from anything else in the story that no portion of any bit of the story seems to make any sense at all. Kinda like most Silver Surfer stories. Well, I finished. Did you?
Know why? Cause it's dying.
Of course Spider-Man had to show up in the pages of the Silver Surfer. The comic has been dying a slow death of re-hash from its start. I guess this may just be an example of why the comic character is so transient. What works inside the pages of another comic - as a guest start - gets so tremendously mis-handled on its own that the comic has been forced to re-vamp itself twice - and will continue over the years, too. The comic brought a good moment or two - the conflict between the father and son - a little over blown - but when he told his Dad that golf was nearly as bad a time waster as the comics - I just about burst. Nice call, kid. Of course, Spider-Man showed up in the comic - and the only real way you could have any bit of a conflict was to knock Silver Surfer for a loop or two - and even then some of the fight seems a little more than simplistic. Did he REALLY think that the webs could slow down the guy? But not a bad comic - just returning too much to the brooding Surfer, yet again.
