Really, when I picked up the book and Darque was back around, again... I thought, "They have really dropped the ball by not involving Darque more in this whole universe. And perhaps it was purposeful. Find a better way to bring hm back into the world of new Valit comics, and re-make him. Of course, being Shadowman's forcal enemy - and trying to remain true to most of that universe - they'd have to sprout forth from it - and had the chance. But re-birthing his spirit here - that was a mess. I understand why it sort of had to be - the fact that Boniface really didn't have much of a secure place in this new Valiant yet. But this story was so awkwardly told - and had a decent idea in its core. It flipped much too quickly through most of what the story intended - and ended up just a limp imitation of a story - really noteworthy only in a summary - and not for a re-read. Anytime.
Let's FIGHT this!
It didn't have as much zing as last month's issue. But it wasn't altogether terrible, either. The comic's strength is here - and I understand why it's having this shared monologue. Of course, for the comic to follow really around one battle - and the battle never really ends, either... Well, I coulda hated it a lot more. I do admire the tenacity to stay with the Russian translation - and not just him speaking - and translated back. That stays within the realm of the universe. But I guess I might not really ever recognize why the comic had to stay until the end.
