Am I thrilled about the change in art? No. I'd love to say some snarky crazy thing like, "the artistic change to give undertones of realism..." Let's be frank. It's worse. I don't hate it. But it;'s not as good. It still works. Great news is that the story has gotten even better. It feels more similar to the first run. Putting through a few more realistic senses - and maybe even tackling a few harsher issues again - but with a playful banter. It isn't to the same level of depth, but it certainly is funny. Many of the lines are laugh-out-loud hysterical. The unicorn hands in particular was great. I even loved Woody's eugenics reference, too. But Eric's comment about the abandoned warehouses and ole amusement parks took the cake. Then the outside the frame reference to comic characters - well-put. Still not quite breaking the fourth wall - I'm sure some worry about the comparison to the old Deadpool - but a nice compromise. Then the death ray and running - priceless. Did you notice the udder chair at the end there? And the post-credits sequence? Nice lead to the end. That felt like an Arrested Development episode. Perhaps the greatest compliment I could give.
