But this wasn't exactly the re-boot that the comic specifically needed. This issue is much better than the last one, but I can't help but get obsessed with the fact that the main character is probably just too young for most readers. Where Spider-Man started a little older than this, he made it to college and was in that desirable range. Most readers can't empathize with this eighth or ninth grade character, or empathize too much with him. The internal story is probably better than the last one through his attempts to connect as Ninjak first, and the kid second. But this Karnivor character is little more than a slight Kraven rip-off, and feels like it, too.
A strange start
As in most premiere issues, a (re)telling of the origin is necessary. Since we've already heard it - it's told by a witch - and kind of a cool idea to recollect it through some kind of a prophet. But the rhyming telling of it? Wow. That is too much. Let me insult a little more here. I am grateful that the original GIT license expired before there was a chance to publish the Thor stories. That may have caused me to do myself harm. Reading the stories told through the perspective of the Avengers comics of Thor and Hercules was already pretty tough. The comic - in Asgard... Well, I want them to get back to Earth. And soon.
