Mads's Take on Magnus
Magnus was really good. When I opened the first book, I knew this would be more of an adult book. That made me feel good, because it made me feel like my dad thought I was getting more mature. But when I was first told was going to read Magnus, I thought I was really going to hate it. But once I read the first page, I loved it. Since I'm a 10 year old girl, you'd know I'd love the inclusion of Leeja. But yet, she was not my favorite character. Magnus was definitely my favorite. The reason I loved Magnus was because Magnus was willing to fight to the death for himself, his race, AND the robots. I really enjoyed the Magnus comic books.but I liked the concept of it even more. Fight for what you think is right, not what other people think is right.

Madeline's look at the FF
I didn't enjoy Fantastic Four as much as I did Magnus. But I understood it more than I did Magnus, because FF is more centered around a kid audience. I liked that Magnus was realistic enough that it COULD happen in the future. (Aside from Magnus being, well, Magnus.) But FF would never happen in real life, what with all the monsters, fire people, invisible people, Things, and bendy people. But what I did enjoy about it was the COSMIC RAYS. I loved that the people got their powers from weird cosmic rays. I definitely liked Magnus better, though.

A final verdict? Well, I'm gonna do a cop out here. The sensible part of me loves Magnus. The story still rings truly all of these years later. However, FF has run for fifty years. FIFTY! That in itself stands for something. Even through multiple iterations... Remember Spider-Man, Hulk, Wolverine, Ghost Rider? it has changed little. I still see these relatively unchanged characters - recognizable. So - I like Magnus's story, but FF for nostalgia's sense. See you tomorrow, kids!
