It seems like I have been waiting for a story like this from the beginning of the Shadowman run. It really had me turning pages, flipping back and forth - retracing - following the story - and really engaging with nearly every part of the story. This brought me back to the character - and to a great degree - really opened up the whole New Orleans and mess with Nettie. For the first time - the location and connections actually MADE SOME SENSE. Too bad that it took this long - and although I wish it had the energy to maintain its strength moving through the end of the story - I know that it ended here. This line may be worth it - just for this one issue, though.
And so, we remember.
A cool concept - to 'attempt' to execute Captain America - and a nice retrospective from the author - and a faux remembrance from Tony, too. A brief one - and certainly highlighting too much from his career - and while flipping through it, I remembered how little I really thought of much of Steve's real career beyond the Avengers. I mean, Batroc the Leaper AND the Tumbler both get HIGHLIGHTED in a panel. These are characters that should be in the background assembly of the garbage panel. But seeing as Steve really didn't DO much, we do have to brush by most of him. But it does shine up these losses nicely - but if it's real - maybe highlight a few Avengers sections, right?
