I loved how it started in 1992. That was a wonderful throwback to the old Bloodshot comic. Brilliantly done. The comic is told as sort of a flashback. Maybe it's just me, but I felt the ending coming from relatively early on. I liked it - but maybe I have hopes that are a bit too high for these origin issues. I like the origin of him - as a killing machine without remorse. But couldn't it have been programmed to NOT kill some people? Really? I liked the setup of each section - even though some of them are a little bit too cliched. The telling of the story worked better than the actual story. Sadly, the shots of the deaths inside of the story were some of the better parts in it. While it filled in some of the parts not there - and transferred that conscience into him... I wanted more from this. It's a good story, it just left me too hungry. With that said, the gatefold variant cover is pretty awesome.
It was all....
I usually hate the whole 'dream sequence' thing inside of films, television, books, whatever. But in THIS case, the mess of everything before HAD to stop. It was silly, confusing, and downright stupid on occasion. It does have the distinct advantage of whiting out everything in the past, and it's usually why I hate it, but here, it all needed to end. I like the appearance of Nightmask in the comic. He's been gone quite a few months, and bringing him back here gave the closure to Justice, and the ability to see Nightmask still operating in the world. Yes, the Nightmare is over, but it's also great to see that Justice can continue. In addition, Tensen is really judged for being such a harsh critic and executioner inside of the world. Putting a man down can be condemned by enemies. Well done comic - even if it's the over-used cliche type of thing.
