I am not going to say that I disliked this comic. In fact, I rather liked it. And that may be saying something pretty big. The comic sort of delves way back into the initial offering of Shadowman - much like the first stabs at the Ennis interpretation - and it really tries to tell the story 'right,' if not exactly better. Now why it decided to just focus on the place - and a few strange descendants, I don't know at all. In fact, in one of these comics, it even told the short tale from the artist - Clareo, I believe, about how he's reading all (both) Acclaim offerings at the time. It may have been intentional to re-tell, but I liked the background - but wished it were a more continual story - instead of the choppy tales.
This one is stupid and bad.
So, the Avengers 'rent' on the mansion is due - and the team gets together to serve as a wrecking crew? And it's rented from a guy named Van Lunt? This was terribly put together as a story - and the foundation for this garbage - that the team should work overtime to survive is really a terrible concept. Especially since the man on the cover looks like an escapee from a melodrama. The roster changed - and I got the feeling while reading it that the entire industry had just run out of ideas. And the writers sat down to write a story and came up with nothing at all. And that's what the wrote. SO bad.
